Update January 16, 2026

New update for AstroDeck

AstroDeck has received significant improvements to make your experience even more accurate, stable, and reliable.

On both Android and Wear OS, the app has undergone technical adjustments, bug fixes, and performance optimizations.

🔧 General improvements

Better performance and stability

Internal optimizations reduced crashes, improved loading times, and made the app smoother for everyday use.

Bug fixes

Several minor issues were fixed to ensure greater reliability of astronomical information.

🌍 Astronomical adjustments (Android)

Seasons corrected by hemisphere

The season display now correctly reflects whether the user is in the northern or southern hemisphere, avoiding inverted information.

Moon phases adjusted by hemisphere

The visual representation and lunar phase data have been corrected to accurately reflect real observations in each hemisphere.

🚀 About the NASA APOD API (Astronomy Picture of the Day)

The NASA APOD API is currently unstable, experiencing periods of unavailability and timeout.

This is not an AstroDeck issue, but rather an instability on NASA's servers.

What was done in version 1.090:

Automatic detection when the NASA API is down or under maintenance.

Display of a clear and friendly message explaining the situation.

More elegant handling of timeout errors.

Transparent communication to the user that the issue is temporary and external to the app.

🛰️ Mars Rover photos

The rover photos feature has been intentionally disabled.

NASA has officially discontinued this API, and keeping it active would cause constant errors.

The removal ensures greater stability and prevents application failures.
